Woodbrook Farm 2024 Pinot Gris
The 2024 Pinot Gris hits all the notes of a classic French Pinot Grisβ lemon, cheese rind, white flowers, and bread dough, but with the volume turned all the way up with intense aromatics that are present right out of the bottle.
The wine has a rich, almost oily texture that is balanced perfectly by elevated acidity to keep it bright and refreshing with a complex, long finish.Β
Salty cheeses, and almost any briny seafood.
This Pinot Gris is much more expressive than its European counterparts while also boasting a rich mouthfeel and elevated acidity.
It’s a great wine on its own, but will also pair beautifully with most seafood raw bar like oysters, clams, and ceviche.Β
Its medium body and oily texture make it great for pastas with a cream sauce since it can both stand up to them and cut through the richness of the sauces.
STANDOUT FEATURES: Intense aromatics, rich texture, bread dough notes .
Red meats probably aren’t the best option here, since they will start to overpower this wine.

This wine has no trouble showing most of its flavors right out of the bottle, and is also designed to be consumed young as a bright, fresh wine.
The correct serving temperature is important to show a wine’s true potential, but don’t stress over getting the temp exactly right. Use the chart below to try to get in the right ballpark.
If a wine has been released by the producer, it means it is ready to drink. Wines don’t necessarily get “better” with age, they just change. Typically, this change involves things like losing fresh fruit flavors in exchange for more savory notes.
The moment you should open the bottle depends on your preference, so it’s more important to understand the evolution and the life span of the bottle than it is to try to time its opening perfectly. (It’s far better to open a bottle too early than too late.)

In 1950, Delmar Twyman, our grandfather, moved his family to his mother’s property in Montford, Virginia. Delmar was an elite horse showman who was inducted in both the Virginia Horse Shows Association Hall of Fame and the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame. Noel Twyman, who began riding at the age of 2 years old, followed in the footsteps of his father and was also inducted in both the Virginia Horse Shows Association Hall of Fame and the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame. Noel’s passion of Show Hunters changed to Race horses in the late 60s, when he began riding Steeplechase horses for Marion DuPont Scott. This then led to Noel creating a successful business in breaking and training 2 yr old Thoroughbred race horses and Steeplechase race horses of which established Woodbrook Farm. This legacy of champions inspired the family of Noel Twyman to embark on a new adventure of champion Virginia Wines.
The “Training Barn” that was built in 1982 is now the home to Woodbrook Farm Vineyard’s wine tasting room. Vaughan Jenkins and Robert Twyman (Noel’s children) and their spouses Noel Jenkins and Carey Twyman began the renovations in August of 2021. We would love for you to come visit to hear more of the stories of our history, see beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and most importantly taste great wines.
In 2021, a shared family vision to honor the farmβs legacy in Orange County, Virginia took root with the planting of a vineyard. That year, the family established their first acres of wine grapes in the rolling foothills of Virginia’s Monticello AVA. Working with the winemaking team at Michael Shaps Wineworks, they released their first wines in fall 2022.
Inspired by the legacy of champions set by their father, Noel Twyman, and grandfather, Delmar Twyman, Woodbrook Farm Vineyard is dedicated to both careful farming and attentive winemaking as a means of capturing the beauty of the Virginia countryside.
